Let's Be Friends Mini Unit

Our Let's Be Friends unit shows the similarities and differences between people. The story and songs included are about friendship and are written to the tunes of popular songs. Included are: The Friend Song, We are Best Friends, I'm Your Friend, I Can Be a Good Friend, and Let's Be Friends Big Book. Our resource allows students to assemble their own Let's Be Friends Big Book, by compiling the provided illustrations with the dialogue balloons. Students will have the opportunity to color their Big Books according to the specified color scheme. This Social Studies lesson provides a teacher and student section with reading passages, activities and matching games to create a well-rounded lesson plan.

Strawberry, The Travelling Mouse

Strawberry is a loveable, plush, gray mouse who knows how to get young authors involved in creative thinking and the reading and writing process. Strawberry lives at school during the day and travels home with a boy or girl in the evening. Strawberry comes with accessories, which include his pyjamas, toothbrush, a change of clothes, a blanket, a good storybook and a journal, all stored in a backpack. The student records events that happen at home with Strawberry, in Strawberry's journal. The student may dictate to a parent, write the story, or illustrate. The process involves creative writing and reading, since Strawberry loves a good story. Our unit includes big book patterns and a journal. In our package, you will find patterns to make an interactive big book. Interactive books include your listening audience in the reading of the story. You can make a big book and story pieces that are added to the story as you read along. Place the big book at a reading centre for hours and hours of reading enjoyment. You'll also find patterns to make hands-on activities for a learning centre and flannelboard patterns for "Old Macdonald" that add a visual dimension to a traditional song.
